Hello. I used to play Stellar Frontier yeeeears ago... I dunno if any of you remember me, but that's not the point. I just intalled it again today and found that the SFDC nexus is down =/
I figured it was down for good until I started searching around and saw people upset that it had been down for just a short while... Who runs the server these days? it used to be Mobious way back when...

I'll give it a shot. I dunno where he hangs out anymore, though.

Okay, I was able to get into the frozenonline IRC channel (which I found on the sf main site as the primary IRC chat location for SF)...
Came across name: NiteHawk, which does sound vaguely familiar for some reason - He is an administrator on the channel, and I am awaiting contact from him. Will repost here with any information I find.

Still haven't came into contact with anybody who knows why the SFDC nexus is down, however, I was able to verify that Stardock no longer has any intention of going open source with Stellar Frontier.

It's prolly just best to just not worry about the game anymore. The Dev's stated they don't want to open source a long time ago, they just want the game to finally die. The game is unplayable. 1 person in a server all day. Not worth it.
The last real hope was the "alleged" Java based upgrade to the game 2 years ago which never came.
Stardock most likely got tired of keeping a server up for a non existent community and pulled the plug. I don't blame them. I would have done the same a long time ago, they weren't making profit.
Move onto Ogame, Starport GE or go to Continuum. There are plenty other games that actually have an online community and developers who do shit with the game.

Well back when the SFDC center website was still up it showed all of the devs that worked there, NiteHawk is one of them, or was one of them. I haven't talked to him in quite some time. I agree that it might be best to move on, but I don't recomment ogame since you have to be on there constantly to prevent yourself from getting attacked

The game is unplayable. 1 person in a server all day. Not worth it. We don't want the game to die, but open sourcing it would be a bad idea - we discussed this seriously last time we all talked, and we all agreed on that. By 'we' I mean Stardock and the SFDC. The last real hope was the "alleged" Java based upgrade to the game 2 years ago which never came. SFServer was the main (only?) programmer behind that movement, and he gave it up when Stardock refused to assign rights to Stellar Frontier to him. Stardock most likely got tired of keeping a server up for a non existent community and pulled the plug. I don't blame them. I would have done the same a long time ago, they weren't making profit. We were willing to keep sf.stardock.net nexus going indefinitely, however we were forced to pull the plug when we got tired of dealing with the Skillet fiasco. After months of nonstop trying to repair damage caused by Skillet we decided it wasn't worth it. By 'we' I mean Stardock. Move onto Ogame, Starport GE or go to Continuum. There are plenty other games that actually have an online community and developers who do shit with the game. Good advice. I agree. I recommend Continuum personally. Great game, great player community too (always a plus). Heck, even back when Stellar Frontier was still somewhat active the player community here wasn't that hot. Much better people overall over at Continuum, I say.

Hey guys, I haven't been in-game in some time and have no way to access it at the moment. Is the SFDC nexus still down? If so I have means to contact Mobious and found out what's going on. The last I knew he still had access to it.

Hey Rich, awmalzo! Long time no see. I have no clue whether the SFDC nexus is down or up, but if we go by what awmalzo has said, it appears to be up.
